1999 Château Musar, Bekaa Valley
Château Musar was first established by Gaston Hochar in 1930 in the 18th century castle Mzar in Ghazir with two vineyards - the larger of which is in the Bekaa Valley. Under current owner / winemaker, Serge Hochar, the estate has almost continually produced wines despite the ravages of the hostilities in the area. The 1999 has all the spicy, cedary, rich fruit, ripe chocolatey aromas so typical of the château. "Definately a vintage to follow very closely ... " (Serge, November 1997) "Most recently, seemed fully developed, good flavour, lovely aftertaste" Last tasted May 2002. 4 stars. (Micheal Broadbent, Vintage Wine)
