If the sister Tempranillo wine above is a bit of a googly then this Malbec is a return to normality. It delivers everything that one expects from an Argentinain produced Malbec. Vibrant purple/black colour from core to rim. There is a rich and savoury black-scented nose in which ripe blackberries predominate. Strong full flavoured taste and yet a smooth easy style showing spicy, rich concentration.

The Spanish are to be revered for what they have achieved with Tempranillo. The Argentinians, until recently, used the grape as a workhorse and greatly overproduced it. Much has changed though and now with far more delicate handling this grape variety is starting to shine. There is no doubting this is a South American version ... the black colour gives the game away ... but the nose is delicate in comparison and the flavours dominated by fruit are not overpowering.
